Kirk Book 1A is the first of 6 consecutive level 1 books. It has more than 60 on-the-staff songs with over 20 different hand placements. Emphasis on the music alphabet (A - G) makes note identification systematic and effective. Lots of practice is provided for playing stepping patterns before gradually introducing intervals of a 3rd. (4ths and 5ths are introduced in 1B)
By combining pattern reading and note identification with ample practice material and varied hand placements, superior reading skills are fostered
As the books progress, opportunities to develop right and left hand independence and artistic expression are provided. All level 1 books advance technical skill development while continuing to lay the foundation for the appearance of key signatures in level 2.
